| The equinox came and went on Tuesday evening, and this week turned out to be about what a night is actually for. Four jobs, four issues. Not one of them is about wanting it more. Here is the week, on four cards. THE WEEK IN FOUR CARDS MONDAY A week of camping shifted eight clocks two hours earlier, on daylight alone. Get outside within an hour of waking, leave the sunglasses indoors, and remember that a window is not the same as a doorstep. [READ THE ISSUE](https://lights-out.ghost.io/morning-light-circadian-clock-equinox/) TUESDAY Only 0.3 mg restored sleep efficiency. Your gummy holds thirty times that. Quarter the tablet you own, take it half an hour before bed, and judge the result by how heavy your morning feels. [READ THE ISSUE](https://lights-out.ghost.io/melatonin-dose-03-mg/) WEDNESDAY The gaps between brain cells open 60% wider once you are asleep. Start the night on your side, drink your water before seven, and score your fog out of ten beside last night's hours. [READ THE ISSUE](https://lights-out.ghost.io/glymphatic-brain-fog-sleep/) THURSDAY Eleven adults lost one hour of sleep and nearly all of their deep sleep. Count your longest unbroken stretch instead of your total, and shift bedtime earlier so the deep block lands before anyone wakes you. [READ THE ISSUE](https://lights-out.ghost.io/sleep-fragmentation-broken-nights/) Signal, dose, drainage, continuity. Four jobs your night was always doing, and four ways the modern evening interrupts them. If you only do one thing: go and read the dose printed on the melatonin in your cupboard. WEEKEND CHALLENGE Write down your longest unbroken stretch, two mornings running. Not the total. The longest single piece, as best you can tell. Most women are shocked by how small that number turns out to be, and it is the one figure worth taking to a doctor. QUICK QUESTION Did you try any of this week's hacks? [YES](mailto:Claire%20Ashton%20%3Cmeloucou@gmail.com%3E?subject=Yes%20-%20I%20Tried%20One&body=Yes%2C%20here%27s%20the%20one%20I%20tried.) [NO](mailto:Claire%20Ashton%20%3Cmeloucou@gmail.com%3E?subject=No%20-%20Not%20Yet&body=No%2C%20not%20yet.) Sleep well,Claire Ashton |
