| A strange thread ran through this week without my planning it. Every issue turned out to be about timing rather than substance. The same dinner at a different hour. The same cherry in a different form. The same hours of sleep taken from a different end of the night. Nothing below asks you to buy anything or want it more. Four cards, four levers. THE WEEK IN FOUR CARDS MONDAY Rising melatonin tells your insulin to stand down, and a late plate walks straight into it. Finish dinner four hours before bed, and on the nights you cannot, drop the starch rather than the meal. [READ THE ISSUE](https://lights-out.ghost.io/dinner-timing-melatonin-insulin/) TUESDAY The melatonin in cherry juice is a rounding error, and the real compound is unprinted. Buy Montmorency concentrate and take 30 ml twice a day for a week, morning as well as evening, instead of a tumbler of juice at bedtime. [READ THE ISSUE](https://lights-out.ghost.io/tart-cherry-sleep-dose-montmorency/) WEDNESDAY Poor sleepers scored twice as high on skin aging, with identical sun damage. Guard the first three hours of the night, and book anything harsh for your face in a week when you can actually sleep afterwards. [READ THE ISSUE](https://lights-out.ghost.io/sleep-skin-aging-collagen/) THURSDAY Sleepy on the sofa and wide awake in bed is a trained response, not a fault. Get out of the bed when you are awake and annoyed, turn the clock to the wall, and keep work out from under the covers. [READ THE ISSUE](https://lights-out.ghost.io/conditioned-arousal-bed-sleep/) Four issues, and not one of them was about doing more. Every single one was about doing the same thing at a different hour. If you only do one thing: when you are lying there awake and irritated, get up and leave the room. WEEKEND CHALLENGE Pick one weekend night and eat dinner four hours before bed. Change nothing else. Same food, same portion, same glass of whatever you were having. Shift only the clock, and notice how the first hour in bed feels. QUICK QUESTION Did you try any of this week's hacks? [YES](mailto:Claire%20Ashton%20%3Cmeloucou@gmail.com%3E?subject=Yes%20-%20I%20Tried%20One&body=Yes%2C%20here%27s%20the%20one%20I%20tried.) [NO](mailto:Claire%20Ashton%20%3Cmeloucou@gmail.com%3E?subject=No%20-%20Not%20Yet&body=No%2C%20not%20yet.) Sleep well,Claire Ashton |
